Day 1178 - Day 6 Post-Surgery -"How to get Growing"

Day 1178 - Day 6 Post-Surgery -"How to get Growing"

Now that the initial healing phase is over with from the surgery, I can now start moving around a little bit more...let me emphasize Little! The pressure in my abdomen is quite like being 8 months pregnant...and I look like it, too. I have to keep reminding myself it's only temporary!! But the pressure in my abdomen doesn't explain the "bloat" in my butt!! LOL...
Today's sermon at church was a good one that I'd like to share with you. The pastor was preaching on "What to do when you're stalled in your relationship with God" but he used the analogy of losing weight so a lot of what he was saying could very well go along with what we do here...plus I truly believe our spiritual being is synonymous with our physical being. He stated 10 points of "How to get Growing" Main point is this..it takes work!!
1) Desire to grow. Desire is not a matter of condition, it is a matter of choice!
2) Stay away from people who kill your desire for growth. those who:
a)focus on what's wrong
b)have a negative spirit
c)desire killers hate change
d)it will expose their shortcomings
3) Spend time with growing people(like we do here)"You use steel to sharpen steel,
and one friend sharpens another."
4) Realize the rewards. better shape..healthy..feel better about ones self
5) Set incremental goals. it happens in steps..doesn't happen overnight.
6) Set long term goals. short term goals lead you towards your long term goals.
7) Recognize your tendency to be lazy.
8) Be accountable!
(hmm..imagine that?!)
a)Be accountable to someone ahead of you
b)Be accountable to someone available to you
c)Be accountable to someone who cares for you and your success
d)Be accountable to someone who you have regular interaction with
e)Be accountable to someone who you won't get mad at if they challenge you!
9)START!! doesn't matter what you "feel" like but what's right. Just do it!
a)change your setting
b)change your style
10)Realize it will be a struggle to stay committed. It takes work!! But if you do those things above it will be "easier".
